We made this project with Hülya. Firstly, we watched the video and read the notes related to 1984. Later we wrote our clauses at the glogster. I think this book is quite different. I liked it very much.

MY WEBSITE PROJECT
I listened an interview recording with a
celebrity. I think this project is really challenging for me because they were
speaking very fast and I am not accustomed to listening the speech of the
native speakers. I listened the recording over and over again by taking notes. However,
I have learned a lot of new words and new information in this process.:)
James Cameron was interviewed and the interviewer was Francine Stock. James Cameron explained his last film, Avatar. He mentioned about the title of movie, the features of film characters, 3 D technology, make-up of the avatars and the battle of avatars with humans.
James Cameron was interviewed and the interviewer was Francine Stock. James Cameron explained his last film, Avatar. He mentioned about the title of movie, the features of film characters, 3 D technology, make-up of the avatars and the battle of avatars with humans.
The interviewer constructs the interview by
mentioning Avatar which is the biggest selling film of all time. She said ‘James
Cameron reflects on the future of screens big and small. Avatar taking 2.7
billion dollars around the world will be released on DVD in the America on Monday.
And also, she talked about the opportunities of film increasing sophistication
related to blue rays in home.
The first question was related to title
best noted for computer gaming. According to James Cameron, the term of Avatar
became quite common and people are associated with their online avatars, gaming
avatars. His aim was not to change the title having different associations for
people. And then, people began to like doing online. He added that they
invested their all energy within this film like Jack into his body and he spent
more time to biological avatar.
The second question was associated with
the characters in his representation of Avatar. Avatar was a physiological
representation and James Cameron casted people to play both Na’vi characters
and the avatars who had strong faces. When he wanted them to be beautiful, fast
or active, they had to have active ears or tails, bodies. It was a part of
spirit that wants to be free, powerful or wants to be in touch with nature but
wiser. It was a simplification of that Na’vi versus the humans according to
him.
Later the interviewer asked him to give
explanation about how to strengthen the humanlike characters on screens. He
said ‘I spent a lot of time and energy on building a system to keep the spark
of life in actor’s face alive through the inventers of CD characters. But when
the technical means flapped, we benefited from make-up and recordings of very
detailed motions of mouth, eyes or ears.’
Later, Francine Stock talks about the
usage of 3 D in the film and she asked ‘Do you think 3 D is going to be stable
film?’ After that, he agreed with this idea. He said that ‘I will continue to
produce films in 3 D and we see the world in 3 D.
Another question was related to the fact
that 3 D in home is slightly destroying the idea of they are went when you go
to the cinema you are getting something which you can’t get from the home
entertainment. James Cameron agreed that 3 D in cinema is different from home
in terms of screen, size and 3 D will be always more powerful than 3 D in home.
They talked about the effect and the role
of science in cinema. According to him, we are curious human beings always
trying to find new things and science is not the major factor in cinema.
lastly, the intense message was discussed among them. Ecology and colonization
are said to be possible reasons of big battles at present or in the future.
My Personal Questions:
1. Do you have another project related to science fiction after Avatar?
2. How could you imagine this world being different and what was the starting point of Avatar in your mind?

THE WEBQUEST PROJECT
It is our webquest project. I and Ümmühan Ülker wrote a fable of a rabbit and two squirrels. Firstly, we used the webquest and followed the directions to create the fable. We completed the documents related to the task. It was so enjoyable assignment. We tried to write an original fable with my friend. I hope we can be successful.
A RABBIT AND TWO SQUIRRELS
There were two squirrels and a rabbit in a big forest. They were close and sincere friends. While they were playing hide & seek joyfully, the curious squirrels found a big chest in the soil and said:
- Come, come here. There is a big chest help me it is too big to take it out for me.
The rabbit came and said:
- Oh it is a piece of cake, you are so weak. I can engrave it easily by myself.
One of the squirrels said:
-You’re very arrogant but it requires much more strength than yours. It is impossible to do it by yourself. But all of us can overcome it easily.
The rabbit said:
-I don’t need your help. It takes only a few minutes to engrave it for me. Now watch me and see my success.
The squirrel said:
- Ok, firstly you try it!
A few hours later, the rabbit could not be successful yet and got so tired. At the end, the rabbit understood that he couldn’t do it by himself. He decided to ask for his friends’ help.
The squirrels and the rabbit tried to engrave it altogether. A few minutes later, they could overcome it easily. So that, the rabbit realized:
"TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE.’
